March has been a crazy scout month! We are crazy, and attend two different cub scout packs, which means we have double the pack meetings and banquets to attend. The boys love it and they have double the opportunity to work on their requirements.
The "city" pack had their Blue and Gold Banquet on March 6th. Before the banquet, a local photographer took pictures of the scouts. I think the boys look quite handsome in their uniforms. It was a great opportunity for a fun family scout picture. Next year Brayden will also be in uniform.
Drew was very excited to earn his Wolf patch and two arrow points.
It was a very special banquet because Morley earned his Arrow of Light award, which is the highest award a boy can earn while in Cub Scouts. It is equivalent to the Eagle Scout in Boy Scouts. Our "church" pack was also invited to attend because another one of my Webelos was also earning his award. The ceremony was performed by a mountain man that told the story of the Arrow of Light. The three boys that were to receive the award were on stage and were quizzed, taught and praised for their hard work.
Morley was chosen as the scout to answer for the rest of the boys. He was nicknamed "Smiles-A-Lot" and answered the questions correctly.
The boys were very attentive and excited. There was a lot of information for them to absorb.
The mountain man said there was a "test" to verify if the boys had completed their requirements to the satisfaction of "the spirits". Morley gave him his neckerchief and when it was set on fire, if it BURNED then the spirits were not happy with their preparation and would have to keep working. If the fire DANCED, the spirits were pleased and they could continue on their scouting journey.

The seven candles/feathers represent the attributes of the Arrow of Light:
Wisdom, courage, self control, justice, faith, hope and love.
I was able to help present Morley and Nathan their awards since I was their leader. It was quite emotional for me, which I did not expect. I just started sobbing. I felt the true spirit of scouting and what it can do for young boys!
All of the boys passed and they were awarded their Arrows of Light and welcomed into a Boy Scout troop with a boy scout book and neckerchief.

What a great Blue and Gold and crossover ceremony, that is pretty amazing. Congrats to you and boys! Scouting is an amazing program and it is wonderful seeing my grandchildren participating in it. Thanks Matt and Alison for supporting them and being so involved yourself. I am still involved and loving it, I will conduct to Eagle Scout Boards of Review tonight. Love, Dad
The boys look so great in their uniforms. What a huge accomplishment! The attributes of the Arrow of Light great for all of us to strive for.
What busy parents and leaders you two are in Scouts. You can really see how much the boys love being involved!

My eyes are tearing up! Seeing boys participate and love scouting is very dear to my heart. Way to go boys!! Thank you for your service Matt and Ali with the program. You both do a wonderful job.
Looks like you need to eat some more deep fried food to fit into that boy scout uniform Morley! Congratulations, you are doing great things in your life. The challenge is to do that all of your life! I can tell that your siblings look up to you and that your parents love you.
