Today was Morley's first "adjustment" on his braces since he had them put on in January. Dr. Hoppens called him a "gear head" because he was getting his head gear. It is incredible how much his teeth have moved in just these last 10 weeks. The dentist pulled two loose teeth a few weeks ago to help with the progress of the braces. His treatment is very interesting and complex as they are trying to move teeth to make room for a tooth that hasn't even come down yet because there is no space whatsoever. Dr. Hoppens created loops/bends in his top wire to create a gap. He looked so silly with all the twisted wires coming out of his mouth.
His head gear was adjusted and special instructions were given on how long to wear it each night...at least 10 hours. His mouth was already sore before we left the office 1.5 hours later. We're stocked up on Tylenol for the next few days, he's going to be pretty sore.

See the "figure 8's" on the left side? By our next appointment those wires are supposed to be nearly straight and there will be a nice space for the hidden tooth.

No pain, no gain Mo! It's worth it I promise. Get it out of the way now and you'll love your perfect smile.
I remember wearing that awful head gear too Mo! It will get better, and when you're catching all the girls in years to come this will all be worth it! **wink, wink!
Morley, the braces and head gear make you even more handsome. I remember the pain of the adjustments and even had to wear head gear back in the day! Pa had to wear braces twice, so make sure you do everything the doctor tells you. It will be worth it, I promise. Have fun with Tom. Can't wait to see you in June!
