Every year, Cabelas sponsors a "kid's fishing day" where they stock the pond and the kids can win prizes and receive goodie bags full of bait, lures, hats advertisements. This year they stocked the pond with 600 fish and there were some that were "tagged". If you caught a fish with a colored tag, they were worth a gift card to Cabelas. They could be worth $25-$300! We didn't catch one this year...but the boys are still trying!
Ella would not be left out this year. She was acting very independent and didn't want anyone to help her and wanted her "own fishing pole" she could "do it by myself". She did finally let her daddy help her out.
Everyone caught a fish...many were large and others were VERY tiny! Morley caught the most and wouldn't share the magic spot with the rest of us!
At the end of the event, our family brought home eleven rainbow trout. Morley and Drew won new fishing poles, free pizza coupons, free Arby's meals and a Bakugan tin. Brayden was a little bummed at first that his name wasn't drawn, but quickly recovered. Ella was clueless, thank goodness!

You should've won a prize for the most odd looking catch. I love that your family enjoys the outdoors so much together.
What a fun event! Maybe next year someone will catch a tagged fish! Cute family, handsome boys, and one independent gal!
I always try to talk T into doing this, but the idea of all those children that close to a body of water just makes him twitch...but I plan to keep on and get him to take the kids sometime soon just for the experience!
So glad the kids had fun and that Miss Ella participated and had a grand time! :)
