The kids had their spring concert, which is always fun. The K-3 kids had a "LEYTON IDOL" theme and each of the kids had to come as a music artist of their choosing. Ella chose a punk rocker and Brayden was a country singer. Mrs. Benish always goes ALL out for the concerts and the kids performed 10 songs, with props, lines and stage changes! Drew had a fun concert too and had his first performance in the band playing the saxophone. He did really well and enjoys the instrument. We took a break from guitar lessons so we could concentrate on one instrument.
Drew also had a LUAU party with his 5th grade class. They learned how to say their names in Hawaiian, the Hawaiian alphabet, a few dances and performed a play for the parents. Drew even got Matt to say/sing the "helping verb song" that he learned in grade school to the audience. We had fresh tropical fruit and enjoyed spending the afternoon with his class.
Brayden had a "Grandparents day" with his class. Because our grandparents are so far away, we asked Grandma Annie to substitute for Brayden and Scout. She works at the school and the kids adore her. Grandma Annie was very sweet and loved spending special time with these two. We sure miss our grandparents an extra amount on days like these.
There are so many extra school activities right now before the end of the year....I hope we survive them all!
