Cheyenne County Spelling Bee

Drew and Brayden made it to the Cheyenne County Spelling Bee with four other classmates from Leyton.  In all there were 25 students competing.  Mr. Brayden had the 1st chair and Drew was in the 3rd chair.  Brayden looked terrified and I am sure would have preferred to be under his chair instead of on it.  Drew was goofy nervous. Thankfully for them the crowd was small, mostly just parents and a few teachers.  The practice round had hard words and we were nervous for them.  Brayden's first word was CHINCHILLA and he missed it by one letter.  He was so nervous and put an extra "i" in the word.  He was bummed and relieved to have it over with.  Drew made it to the second round and his word was PUEBLO.  He forgot to put in the "u".  He was truly bummed but in good spirits.  One of Brayden's classmates made it to the top four spellers.  We were so proud of all of them!

The highlight of the trip was going to Dairy Queen!  Mrs. Bartling let the kids order whatever they wanted.  Both Drew and Brayden ordered large Blizzards with extra toppings.  Good grief it was a lot of ice cream!  It was fun spending the afternoon with them!  We are so grateful Matt has a job that allows him to attend all of their school activities!  Awesome Drew and Brayden for being great spellers!
