Overseas Sightseeing

Matt had his first business trip overseas to Korea and China for 14 days.  We had a total nightmare trying to get his passport.  Since we had recently moved, they need more "up to date" information before the government would issue a passport....and that was 9 days before he was scheduled to leave for Korea.  You can't get your visa until you have your passport, so it was a little stressful.  He spent an entire day in Denver at the government offices with a stack of documents and he came home with his passport and expedited the visa process.

He took some fun pictures and brought back fun gifts for us.

He found a chapel and went to church on one of the Sunday's he was there.  It was General Conference Sunday for us but it is broadcast until the following week for translation purposes.  There was an American missionary also.  He also got a kick out of the "cleaning schedule" at church.  

They also took time to go to the Korea DMZ.  He said it was cool and very sad.  I can't imagine living in a country that kept you from your family.

We had a fun time SKYPing with him a lot.  When we were ready for bed he was getting ready for the day. The kids thought it was so cool that he was "in the future" and then got to go "back in time" when he came home.

He brought back a turquoise bracelet, silk scarf and cashmere wrap for me!  The kids got some fun treasures that they'll keep safe forever.

Matt enjoyed his first overseas trip and working with the people in the factories that make the fly rods he buys for the Cabelas stores.   Very cool!!  Fourteen days was a LONG time to be away from us but what a great experience!  I hope he'll have the opportunity to travel there again!
