Pinewood Derby x2

Why does it feel like it is a race to get cars completed for the derby each year.

I mean seriously, the boys receive their cars in December....

It wasn't so bad this year as in years past but we did have to scramble to

help Drew finish his before the first derby.

The "city pack" had their race on the last Saturday in January.  Drew had basketball games all day in Scottsbluff and he wanted to send his car with Matt to race.  When did he tell us this....Friday night.  OYE!  We were up until 1:30 am getting it painted and "just the way he wanted it".  He was a happy boy in the morning and off he and I went to basketball.

Matt took the other three kiddos to Sidney for the big race.

There were a few "games" during the judging to keep kids entertained. 

I love seeing all the different car designs!

Brayden's car won 1st place in his Wolf den and then 2nd place overall.
He was thrilled to have a super fast car again!

One race down....One race to go.

The following Wednesday was our "church pack" derby.  I am still working as the Webelos leader with five boys and it keeps me on my toes. 

There were some very fun and creative desserts this year....

my marshmallow pops were not at all "car" related but they were a favorite.

Our Cub Master cut wood for each boy to make their own car stand for a den meeting.  They thought it was pretty cool to put it together and then paint them.  Parents also had pit passes and the scouts had one with their pictures.

we could not keep the boys seated.  They were so animated and supportive of each other, it was a great experience!

Trissh and I always have a good time together.

Here is our Pack 87! 

Drew won 1st place in his Webelos den!  Brayden is the only Wolf in this pack...so technically he won 1st place in his den (ha ha)....but he is combined with the Bear scouts and earned a participation certificate.

The boys had a wonderful night and it was one of the most successful Pinewood Derby's we have
held for Pack 87!  Only 11 months until the next one...
