Blue had kittens!

We knew Blue was pregnant....but we didn't know when to expect the babies to be born.  Gestation for cats is only 65 days.  Thankfully they were born the week after we came home from our trip to Utah. 

 

Ella noticed Blue acting "weird" the Saturday before the kitties were born....a lot of walking, restless, extra friendly.  Blue and Oliver slept in the garage that night.  Ella woke the whole house up by screaming, "Blue had babies, Blue had babies!!!"  We all raced to find four kittens but only three were alive.  We don't know how the fourth died but it was kinda sad for all of us.  Blue is a very good mommy kitty and Oliver just keeps his distance but I know he is lonely.  He has resorted to snuggling up with Deacon, which Deacon does not enjoy too much.

Newborns-a few hours old...

 

Two weeks old

They opened their eyes when they were about 11 days old.

Kittens are much cuter when their eyes are open.

They started moving around more, not walking really but scooting.

 



While Blue was taking a mommy kitty break, Ella thought the kittens would enjoy a little play time under the umbrellas with soft blankets.

 



 

 

Three weeks old today...

Walking around and starting to get playful with each other. 

They are getting pretty cute and fluffy.  They love being held and snuggled.

I think we might keep the grey kitten and find homes for the black ones.  The kids are begging to keep them but we are NOT doing 5 cats.....3 will be plenty.  We have 4 more weeks until they can find a new home so until them the kids are sure enjoying them!

 Seriously, aren't they cute?

I'm trying to add to the "farm" around here....chickens.  Maybe!
