YW Camp - Camp Out

I am a lucky lady and have the opportunity to take the young ladies from our ward to camp again this summer.
There are 18 girls this year and four leaders.

We have to have nearly ALL of our certification done BEFORE camp this year so we had a little camp out at our house to accomplish this task.  We finished knot tying, fire safety/building, compass course, cooking, knife safety, skit practice and song practice.

It was so much fun!

Just hanging out waiting for everyone to arrive.

Courtney, Lauren, Taive and Katie.

Learning about fire safety.  We were worried that we wouldn't be able to have a fire because it was SO windy.  Our prayers were answered and the wind stopped right as we were ready to cook dinner.  We were very blessed and the wind was quite still until about 30 minutes after the last girl went home.

This big cloud was pretty neat.

Matt taught orienteering and compass course.  The girls were so patient as he was very thorough.

I had fun watching all of the girls put up their tents by themselves.  They later had some adult assistance.

Courtney and Lauren.

Dinner: campfire hot dogs, salads, chips, lemonade.
Dessert: s'mores and dump cake

Families were also invited to the camp out which made it so fun.  Why is my Boy Scout son not wearing any shoes by the fire?  Can you guess what he now has on the bottom of his foot?

Our inaugural fire in our new fire pit.  It will look really awesome when we are finished with it.

At camp we have to put on a five minute skit, and only five minutes or we will be gonged.
Courtney wrote most of it with help from Lauren, Hailee and Emma.  They did awesome!

We stayed up late singing songs around the campfire and wonderful spiritual thought by Rose.  I enjoyed listening to chatter coming from tents until after midnight.  We have such a special group of girls!  We had 33 people enjoying a wonderful time together.

Tent row Saturday morning.

Our morning was gorgeous!  Everyone enjoyed some hot chocolate, pancakes, juice and fresh fruit for breakfast.

Katie was enjoying our Nerf guns too!

After our morning devotional we finished up with knife safety and sharpening by Brother Jones.  He loves his knives!

Young Women Camp is in 10 days.  We are all pretty excited!

I am so jealous that you get to go and be with all those wonderful girls again this year! Everyone has grown so much since I was there. I'll be there in sprit... tell everyone hello for me. ;)
