an ALL day celebration

 

Drew woke up bright and early on his birthday and counted the minutes until it was time to open his gifts.  We had to wait until the entire family was home and I think he almost going to explode with excitement.  To make the wait a little easier he had delicious gooey cinnamon monkey bread and chocolate milk for breakfast.  Then, it was time to rip the paper off the gifts.  He was pretty thrilled with what he received and also received gifts via mail from family on his birthday too!

 

 

That evening we hosted his birthday party with his 5th grade class from school and his best friend from Sidney.  The chore was to find something to "do" with a lot of older kids for two hours.

Minute-to-Win-It games came to the rescue.  Drew picked four that sounded fun and we were ready to party!  He had 9 friends come so it was five against five-girls against boys.

 

The first challenge was the STACK ATTACK.

They had to take down and then restack the cups in a pyramid in one minute.

We stopped actually "timing" them when a few were getting worried about not finishing. Instead we just did it like a relay race and everyone was happy.

 



Then we had TORTILLA HEAD.

They had to wear one flipper, scoop a tortilla and flip it onto a plate they had tied on their head.

The girls did really well with this challenge.  I had such a blast watching them!

 

FACE THE OREO was the crowd favorite!

Everyone had to put the Oreo on their forehead and get it into their mouth without using their hands....only their facial muscles.  It was HILARIOUS and delicious too! 

 

NOODLING AROUND

proved to be the most frustrating.  Each person had to place an uncooked spaghetti noodle in their mouth and scoop up an uncooked penne noodle until they had four.  A few finished quickly and a few others just couldn't get it down.  Thankfully everyone was smiling and still having a good time!

 

 

While we waited for the pizzas to cook it was present time.  Cold hard cash was the gift of choice this year and Drew was over the moon!  His friends were very generous and he was so very thankful!

After cooking eight pizzas everyone was ready to eat.  I believe there were only two small pieces left.

Thankfully very simple and exactly what he wanted!
 

 

 

When the two hour time frame for the party was over, I was done and Drew was exhausted.  We had a great time and Drew was a very happy boy after a full day of celebrations.

 





 

We had his "birthday dinner" on Sunday night and his choice of food was

Cheeseburgers, brats, fried rice, orange soda and NO VEGGIES.
